Scars in The Ground: A Place of Remembrance
 
Inspired by the life story of civilian war heroine Sybil Kathigasu, I decided to base the memorial on 3 main emotions (Fear, Peace, Regret) that I had interpreted based on her story. 
 

Fear;

when she was under the hands of the Japanese and was being tortured. Fear for her loved ones (husband and daughter) who got tortured as well when she got caught for helping Anti-Japs when she was doing her job as a doctor.

Peace;

when the war had ended and she and her loved ones were freed, and she received justice.

Regret;

she got her loved ones in danger by helping Anti-Japs. If she had not helped the Anti-Japs, none of the torture would have happened to her and her family.

These are my interpretation of the emotions Sybil Kathigasu had during World War 2.
